Three Favorite Allergen-free Flavors and
Last Chance to Win a Freezerful of So Delicious
Dairy Free Frozen Desserts!

We care deeply about our friends with multiple foods sensitivities and food allergies, and our R&D team is always busy in the kitchen working on delicious new products and flavors that are free of the most common food allergens: dairy (of course!), eggs (always—our products are all vegan!), peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, and soy. Today we'd like to introduce you to three of our favorite allergen-free ice cream flavors: Cherry Amaretto, Green Tea, and Passionate Mango.

Our Cherry Amaretto flavor is bursting with sweet chunks of black cherries in a distinctive amaretto-infused coconut milk ice cream base.

If you're a green tea aficionado, you'll love our Green Tea Coconut Milk ice cream! Reminiscent of the green tea ice cream you'll find at Japanese restaurants, our Green Tea flavor is made with matcha green tea powder that takes on a whole new level of lusciousness when paired with coconut.

Passionate Mango combines the fruity flavors of passionfruit and mango to create a delectably creamy, coconutty tropical frozen treat.

In other news, we're busy getting ready for the Cascade Lakes Relay race next week. Here's a photo of our team at the finish line last year:

We've been training all year, so we hope you'll be cheering us on as we make the 216.6-mile trek along the scenic route from Diamond Lake to Bend, Oregon! Keep an eye out for our tweets and Facebook posts as we'll be posting photos of our progress along the way!

Pomegranate Chip and a Delicious Dairy-free
Ice Cream Giveaway

In honor of National Ice Cream Month, we're featuring a few of our delicious dairy-free ice cream flavors, and today it's Pomegranate Chip! We make two varieties: One for soy ice cream lovers and one for those who prefer their dairy-free ice cream made with coconut milk.

Why pomegranate? The humble pomegranate is one of the earliest cultivated fruits, and its history is rich with folklore as colorful as the fruit itself. Pomegranates have long been used in Ayurvedic medicine as a traditional remedy for everything from intestinal distress to toning up the skin. They are widely recognized for their antioxidant value and are also a rich source of potassium, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin K.

We love pomegranates because in addition to their bounty of nutrients and beautiful vibrant color, their taste is sweet, tangy, rich, and flavorful. We combine the refreshing taste of pomegranate with crispy flakes of deep, dark chocolate to create a uniquely delicious dairy-free ice cream-lover's treat. If you haven't tasted our Pomegranate Chip flavor, the heart of summer and National Ice Cream Month are a great time to give it a try!

More delicious information on pomegranates …

The carbonized outermost layer of the pomegranate has been found in Early and Late Bronze Age excavations in Israel and on Cyprus. Pomegranates have been depicted in the art of ancient Greece, Persia, Egypt, China, and elsewhere in the Middle East and Asia.

In early English, the Pomegranate was known as "apple of Grenada," a term which today survives only in heraldic blazons. Catherine of Aragon chose the pomegranate as her badge, and it became accepted into English heraldry when she married Henry VIII in 1509. The heraldic meanings of the pomegranate go back to the myth of Persephone, representing the persistence of life, fertility, and regeneration.

Today wild pomegranate seeds are used as a spice in Indian and Pakistani cuisine and pomegranate syrup is a staple ingredient in Persian cooking. In Greece, pomegranates are used to make a variety of dishes including legume salad, eggplant relish, and avocado-pomegranate dip. In Turkey and Syria, you'll find pomegranates featured prominently in muhummara, a roasted red bell pepper, walnut, and garl
ic spread. Israel and Armenia produce pomegranate wines.

Here in the US, pomegranates are most often enjoyed by cutting them open and consuming the seeds and juicy bright red arils (seed casings) that surround them. In Iran and India people have enjoyed the juice of the pomegranate for centuries, but it has only become popular in the US and Canada in just the last decade.
